About Critical Mass

A cross of Afghani and Skunk 1, Critical Mass is an indica variety. The effects people mention most are feeling sleepy, relaxed and hungry.

THC and potency

Public lab results give a good picture of its strength: 4 flower samples tested between 2021 and 2022 came in at a median of 15.4% total THC (the middle half ranged from 14.5% to 15.9%). That is in line with most flower on Canadian shelves. Potency varies by grower and batch, so always check the label.

Aroma, flavour and terpenes

Its reported terpene profile is led by myrcene, with caryophyllene and limonene. Myrcene is known for earthy, musky notes with a ripe-fruit edge, while caryophyllene adds black pepper and warm spice. Consumers most often describe the flavour as spicy/herbal, earthy and skunk.

Reported effects

Some consumers say they reach for it when dealing with pain, stress and anxiety. The side effects mentioned most are dry mouth, dry eyes and dizziness. Critical Mass is a potent indica marijuana strain made by crossing Afghani and Skunk #1. In small doses, this strain will have you feeling creative and calm. In large doses, you'll likely find yourself feeling sleepy and in a couchlock. Critical mass gets its name because of its ability to reach "critical mass" in terms of growing. When growing, branches of this strain tend to snap off from the heavy weight of its buds - which are dense, heavy and tasty. The downside of Critical Mass is that this strain is particularly susceptible to mold, so growers have to be extra cautious with humidity. Flowering time for Critical Mass is approximately 6-8 weeks. This strain originated from the breeder Mr. Nice Seed Bank.
